Have you ever wished you could target your Google Ads to people who have shown an interest in specific websites? Maybe you want to reach potential customers who have visited your competitors' sites or connect with individuals who frequent industry-specific platforms. Well, guess what? You can!
In this post, I'll break down how to use Google Ads Custom Segments to target your ads to people who have visited certain websites. Whether you're looking to poach customers from your competitors or reach a niche audience, this strategy can help you get your ads in front of the right people.
How to Build Your Custom Segment
Here's a quick step-by-step guide on how to use Custom Segments to target specific websites:
- Go to Tools: In your Google Ads account, navigate to "Tools" and then select "Shared Library."
- Open Audience Manager: Within the Shared Library, click on "Audience Manager."
- Create Custom Segments: Choose "Custom Segments," hit the + button, and then scroll down to the section about visited websites.
- Enter Websites: Here's where the magic happens. Enter at least five websites that your target audience is likely to visit. Then Save!
How Does Website Targeting In Custom Segments Work?
Remember, Google Ads doesn't guarantee that your ads will be shown to people who have visited the exact websites you enter. Instead, it will show your ads to people who have visited similar websites.
This is why I recommend selecting at least five websites, even though you only need to pick one. This will give Google Ads a better understanding of who you're trying to reach.
By following these simple steps, you can create highly targeted ads that reach the right people at the right time.
